The Department of Drug Administration has canceled the registration of 144 pharmacies in Parsa district for not renewing their licenses within the legal deadline.
The decision was part of a nationwide action against pharmacies that failed to renew their registration or were operating against regulations. According to the department, a total of 5,302 pharmacies across Nepal had their registrations canceled, including 144 in Parsa.
These pharmacies are no longer allowed to sell medicines. Owners who wish to reopen must complete the registration process again and obtain a new license.
Officials said many pharmacies failed to renew because they did not meet required standards or had already closed. Inspections also found cases of pharmacies selling antibiotics without prescriptions, operating illegal clinics, and selling expired medicines.
The department has warned that strict action will continue against businesses that violate drug laws and endanger public health.
