Kathmandu, June 25 — The Aam Janata Party (AJP) has urged the ruling Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) to withdraw its decision to abolish provincial assemblies, which was endorsed during the party’s convention in Chitwan.
In a statement, AJP spokesperson Tilak Thapa Magar said the decision undermines Nepal’s federal system, which was achieved through years of struggle and sacrifice. He argued that strengthening federal institutions is necessary rather than dismantling them.
AJP also accused RSP of going against its election promises and disrespecting the public mandate. The party warned that the proposal could create new political tensions and called on RSP to review and reverse its decision.
