Pickup Van Carrying Undocumented Mangoes Seized in Bara

Bara Police on Wednesday seized a pickup van transporting mangoes without proper invoices and plant quarantine certification.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Min Bahadur Ghale, spokesperson for the District Police Office, Bara, a checking team deployed from the Area Police Office, Amlekhgunj, under the command of Senior Sub-Inspector Prakash Kumar Khatri, intercepted the vehicle during a routine inspection.

The police stopped a pickup van (Registration No. Madhesh Province 03-001 Cha 6784) traveling from Siraha to Hetauda at Ward No. 21 of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City, Amlekhgunj. During the inspection, officers found 106 crates of mangoes weighing approximately 2,650 kilograms without the required invoices and plant quarantine documents.

The seized mangoes are estimated to be worth Rs. 265,000, while the pickup van is valued at around Rs. 1.7 million, bringing the total estimated value of the seized goods to Rs. 1.965 million.

Police also detained the driver, 26-year-old Bibek Lopchan of Ward No. 16, Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City, Bara. The vehicle and the mango consignment have been handed over to the Birgunj Customs Office in Parsa for further legal action, DSP Ghale said.
