Kalaiya, June 21 — Eleven people were injured when a passenger bus overturned near Nitanpur Chowk in Ward No. 10 of Jitpur Simara Sub-Metropolitan City, Bara, on Sunday morning.
According to police, the bus (Na 7 Kha 235) was traveling from Birgunj to Saptari when it lost control while attempting to overtake another vehicle and overturned on the road.
Police and Armed Police Force teams immediately reached the scene and rescued the injured passengers, who were taken to hospitals for treatment.
Most of the injured passengers are reported to be in stable condition and are receiving treatment at National Medical College and other hospitals. However, one passenger, 62-year-old Chini Lal Shrestha of Siraha, sustained serious chest injuries.
Police said the bus driver fled after the accident and a search operation is underway. Further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
